Accessibility
Accessible to everyone
How this site is built to work for people with disabilities, and how to reach us if something is hard to use.
Our commitment
We want everyone, including people with disabilities, to be able to use this website. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA.
What we have done
- Text and background colors meet WCAG AA contrast, with the one exception listed under Known limitations
- Every page works with a keyboard, shows a clear focus outline, and has a "Skip to main content" link
- Menus, photo viewers and dialogs can be opened and closed with the keyboard (Esc closes)
- Images have text descriptions, and form fields have labels; form messages are announced to screen readers
- The background video on the home page has a Pause button, is muted, and does not play for visitors who have reduced motion turned on or animations paused
- Pages respect your device's "reduce motion" setting, and work when zoomed to 200%
Accessibility menu
The round button at the bottom right of every page (or Alt+A) opens a menu that lets you:
- Choose a profile: Easier to see, Reading focus, Calm motion or Keyboard-first
- Make text bigger, increase line height and letter spacing, and change text alignment
- Raise contrast, switch to dark mode, or reduce color
- Use an easier-to-read font, hide images, and highlight links and headings
- Turn on a reading guide or reading mask, a bigger cursor, or a stronger keyboard focus outline
- Pause animations, or have text read aloud when you click it
Your choices are saved in your browser and stay on as you browse. "Reset all" turns everything off. Open the accessibility menu.
Known limitations
- White text on our brand orange (the menu bar, orange buttons and banners) has a contrast ratio of 3.6:1. That meets the standard for large text but not for smaller text. The accessibility menu's Contrast setting (High or Dark mode) makes it easier to read
- Matterport 3D tours, the YouTube and Vimeo videos, the OpenStreetMap map images, RedKey listing pages and other linked sites are run by other companies and may not meet the same standard
- Listing photos and descriptions come from the MLS; photo descriptions are general (for example, "Photo 3 of 24")
- Some neighborhood descriptions come from an older guide and are being updated
